Gen X's Friendships!

Friendships in Generation Z are characterized by combining digital and face-to-face, often being formed from shared interests on social networks or apps. They are more inclusive and open links, where authenticity, diversity and emotional connection are valued. Although they are looking for safe spaces both online and offline, these relationships can be more flexible or less formal. Despite hyperconnection, many young people experience loneliness and difficulties in face-to-face interaction.

Friendships in the 70s and 80s were mainly face-to-face and depended on physical closeness. They were formed in public spaces such as streets, squares or schools, and communication was analog, based on calls to landlines or scheduled meetings. Meeting new people required initiative at parties or through mutual contacts. They were lasting bonds, built with time, and required patience and commitment, since there were no immediate ways to change plans.
